Have you ever made plans to start a new regimen to reach your goals?  Maybe a new diet, a new exercise routine, a new cleaning schedule, or a new hobby? Then when you got started, you slowly began to lose momentum?

Well this is very common whenever someone starts on a new path to achieving their goals.  The key is to stay consistent with moving forward and keeping that momentum high!

Building consistency is all about practice; the more you do it, the better you become.  Here are 3 simple ways to stay consistent when reaching for your goals:

  1. Reaffirming that this is goal is what you really want.  All too often we start off with the best intentions to work on achieving a goal but somewhere along the lines those intentions change.  It could be that you want to adjust your goal just a bit or you may want to start from scratch.  Either way if you are not still happy and certain about the intention or the goal you will not want to stay consistent.  It’s important to revisit your original goal in order to make sure it’s what you really want to achieve.
  2. Make it an easy win by doing only 1 task a day toward your goals.  The idea of starting a new task can sometimes be a bit overwhelming.  The key here is to not try to do everything all at once.  Instead cut the goal down into small tasks that you can do every day.  That way it does not feel like you have a long list of “to-dos”; instead you have tasks that are easily accomplished in a given timeframe.
  3. Cut out all distractions.  A major change that will help you build consistency is to trim off the time that is wasted on distractions, i.e. television, social media, gossip, or toxic relationships.  Getting focused sometimes means modifying behaviors that lead us away from our goal.  Once you are able to cut out many of the time-wasting distractions you will definitely be able to get and stay consistent.

Staying consistent will really help you get into a flow when it comes to achieving your goals and going after what you really want in life.  As the quote says, “6 months of hard work and focus can put you 5 years ahead in life. Never underestimate the power of consistency and desire.” – unknown
