I remember being in my 20’s and thinking that I had to get everything I wanted to accomplish done by the time I was 30. You see, In my mind at that time, I thought women were done living by the time they reached 40 years old.

Now that I’m in my 40’s, I can tell you that my 20-year-old self was wrong. When it comes to recreating your life, developing new goals, and truly going after your dreams, being 40 years old or older is the best time.

Benefits of Accomplishing Goals at an Older Age

When we’re young, we don’t think about the benefits that come with age. Being older allows us to make decisions based on our previous experiences, which often leads to more success. Also, accomplishing goals at a later age presents different benefits than accomplishing goals at a young age.

Wisdom

More life experience can help you attain more wisdom. I’m not saying that every woman aged 40 and up is wise, but many have more wisdom than they did in their youth. The reason for this is that life experience helps you learn lessons that teach what to do and what not to do to live a peaceful and happy life.

Value the Experience

Sometimes when you are younger, you want to hurry up and get to the destination. But when you get older, you realize there is no destination, because your entire life journey is the destination. Life is an accumulation of experiences that we have, and the secret is to learn how to make every experience enjoyable. When you are older, you learn to slow down and value every experience.

Patience

Patience truly comes with age because as you grow older, you realize change is constant. No matter what the circumstance is, in time, it will change. It’s hard to learn this lesson when you’re younger because it seems like time goes so slow. The older you get, however, the more you realize, time is going fast. So, it’s important to have patience and savor the moment because it will change, sooner than you think.

Conclusion

Being an older woman does not automatically mean you have all the answers. Being older does, however, give you more perspective when it comes to setting new goals and going after your dreams. Take it from me- at 40 years old I completely changed my life and started a new journey- and you can too!
