The highly contagious COVID-19, aka, the Coronavirus has spread rapidly and many countries have mandated that it’s citizens practice social isolation or quarantine in-doors.

If you talk to anyone or turn on the news you can feel the collective anxiety that everyone has with this change. Children are having to be homeschooled, and companies have closed and asked employees to work from home. Many have lost their jobs, and many service and hospitality industry businesses may be facing a financial crisis.

Not to mention all the people that are actually dealing with the effects of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis on their health. Needless to say, most of the world is in one way or another having to face this dire issue.

On the outside looking in, it may seem pretty dim, but I believe that all hope is not lost. We as a human race have faced devastations before and still survived. We will get through this and move on.

The real question is- what do you do while you are presently dealing with being in lockdown?

So many of us (especially in developed countries) are so accustomed to the day to day life of work, traffic, school, events, eating out, hanging with friends, technology, i.e. socializing that when we are told that we have to stay indoors we don’t quite know what to do.

Here’s a thought- instead of focusing on what we have lost, we could focus on what we have GAINED. We as a whole have gained an opportunity to work on ourselves, our lives, our goals and take this time to SELF-REFLECT.

Self-Reflection is the idea of really thinking through who you are as a human being, your values, beliefs, thought processes, and ways of rationalizing conscious thought.

In the process of self-reflection, you take the time to ask deep, thoughtful questions to yourself. Questions such as “who am I?”, “what do I want?”, “what is my purpose?” (download my free Self-Reflection Worksheet HERE).

The point of this process is to really look at your life, your past, your present, and your future. The experience of this pandemic has truly been a social experiment at what people will do and how they will behave when in a crisis situation.

“Here’s a thought, instead of focusing on what we have lost, we could focus on what we have GAINED.  “

Many corporations have donated money and supplies to the medical community to handle the overcrowding of hospitals, physicians from various countries have flown to areas that are highly affected and don’t have enough medical personnel, some industries have staff working overtime to contribute to the effort.

So many innovations are and will continue to come from this crisis; what will be your innovation? How will you use this time to reflect on your life and think about who you are and what you want your legacy to be when this is has passed?

Will you work on that book that you have talked about writing? Write out that business plan that you have been thinking about? Work on getting to know your children on a deeper level? Will you start a new charity? Focus on your spirituality more?

If you aren’t not sure where to begin, the process of self-reflection is a great way to get started. Download my free SELF-REFLECTION WORKSHEET HERE to help you start asking the right questions and double down on introspection.

I hope wherever you are that you are safe, healthy and continue to add positivity to the world.
