It was not too long ago when the general belief was that single unmarried women were doomed to become sad old cat moms.
Depending on when you were born, it was very normal to get married at a young age. When I say young, think 16 or 17 years old!
Women more than ever are prioritizing higher education and financial stability. This has led to more women delaying marriage and/or staying single.
Even women that are divorced have more options when it comes to focusing on rebuilding their lives as a single woman.
However, with so many women choosing to be single are they actually happy?
Do Happy Single Women Really Exist?
So let’s just get to the point here – YES- happy single women do exist. As a matter of fact, research is showing that single, unmarried, childless women are some of the happiest groups in the population.
There are a multitude of reasons why single women are happy. They have more freedom to make decisions without consulting a partner. They can do what they want when they want.
They don’t have to take care of another person (of course unless they have children). They have more time to focus on other priorities in life. The list goes on.
Whether you are newly single, divorced, or thinking about becoming single again you learning to be happy is a big part of living a confident and fulfilled life.
How to Be Happy Being a Single Woman
Learning how to be happy as a single woman is very important. After all, if you’re unable to be happy when you are single, you’ll have a difficult time surviving and thriving when you aren’t in a relationship!
There are a number of ways that you can be happy and be single, here are 3 simple but powerful ways to get you started:
Create a healthy lifestyle
Build a strong social network
Take control of your finances
Let’s discuss these things in more detail.
Create a Healthy Lifestyle
When it comes to being happy, your health should be your number 1 priority. When you feel good physically and emotionally you are naturally a happier person.
Having a healthy lifestyle should include being physically active, being mindful of your nutrition, and having a mental/emotional strategy to stay calm and focused.
Understanding how to create a healthy lifestyle can be a challenge for many women. This is the reason why I created my online course the confident women’s healthy lifestyle guide. In this course, I focus on strategies that have really helped me lead a 360-degree healthy lifestyle.
3 of the main topics that I discuss are healthy eating, exercise, and emotional stability.
When I say healthy eating, I’m talking about focusing on whole real nutritious meals, the portion sizes you should be eating and how to implement interval eating (or fasting) especially if you are trying to lose weight.
I include a 41-page recipe guide as well as a detailed step-by-step meal planning section to help you get organized with portion sizing and keeping up with what you are eating.
I also discuss physical activity or exercise. Physical activity can include low intensity such as walking, yoga or high intensity like running or cycling.
The bottom line is when you are physically active your body produces hormones that make you feel happier.
The course also includes short meditations that you can do to calm your mind. Mental and emotional health is a big part of keeping a strong happy healthy lifestyle. CLICK HERE to learn more about this course.
What makes this course really helpful is that it is adaptable to any type of fitness tracking apps that you already use or plan to use.
Being able to track your health indicators is another great way to build a healthy lifestyle. If you don’t already have a fitness tracker I recommend Brilliant House Fitness Tracker.
If you are like me and want to get a simple tracker that is not too complicated then you will really like this fitness tracker. It’s a smartwatch that keeps up with your sleep, heart rate, any activity or steps and counts your calories.
I love this fitness tracker because it helps support everything that I teach in my course plus you can set it up so that you get calls, message notifications and it’s waterproof.

Build a Strong Social Network
Ladies just because you are single does not mean you have to be alone. Research shows that people that have a positive social network are happier and live longer.
Join groups that share your interests. Maybe a book club, a running group, hiking group, traveling group, or volunteering. Whatever you are into there is a group out there for you.
You can use any online search engine to research groups in your area or you can use meetup.com which has groups all over the world.
If you are into business then join a business group in your local city or state. Many places have Chambers of Commerce or Private Business networking groups and events that you can attend. Research your city business associations and see what’s out there.
My Facebook group is another resource if you want to make online connections. My private, women’s only Facebook group is all about helping women stay motivating, giving tips around healthy lifestyle, understanding how to be productive, build confidence, and have an overall happy life.

The point is don’t sit in the house alone, go out and meet people, especially positive people that motivate you.
Take Control of Your Finances
When you are single you have time to focus on getting your finances in order and building wealth.
You should be tracking how much money you make, how much money you spend, your monthly living expenses, and any debt that you owe.
You should know and be keeping up with your credit score so you know where you stand with your credit in case you want to buy a home or finance a car or have a life emergency.
As you get savvier with your money you should be building streams of income. Meaning that you should have more than one way to bring money into your life.
For example, you may have a full-time job well that’s considered earned income, then you might put some of that money into a high yield interest account that helps you make money over time, then you might invest in stocks, then you might buy real estate, then you might start a business.
The point is when you are single you have the time to put more energy into making more money. When you make more money you do more fun things in life or just create a sense of stability as you get older.
Trust me ladies it does not matter what age you are – if you have not already focus on your money. If you are trying to figure out your finances then a great book that I recommend is called Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche.
This is a great book for beginner to really helps you cultivate good financial habits. It gives you 10 simple steps to get control of your finances, get organized, and start thinking of ways to build up, save and invest money.
