Over the last 10 years of my life, I have experienced numerous setbacks. From getting divorced to getting laid off my corporate career, losing family members, not having the children that I thought I would have by 35- the list goes on.

I finally got to a place where I sat down and listened to the little voice inside of me. The voice that said, “what do you want?” That’s when I knew I had to completely recreate my life and become the woman I was meant to be. A powerful, confident, visionary. A competent leader, a creator, and a dynamic businesswoman.

Don’t get me wrong- it didn’t happen overnight. It took time, dedication, and 3 very important steps. These steps were key to me recreating my life and starting down my new path to my highest and best self.

Recreate Your Life

1. Listen to Your Heart

When you first start on the path to recreating yourself, before you do anything, you must give yourself some quiet time to sit and listen. Listen to your thoughts- to the little voice that is telling you to take a vacation, or start writing a book, or move to a new location. If you don’t feel like you have the answers then start asking yourself what would make you happy. What would bring you joy?

Start journaling your thoughts daily and allowing your mind to open up. This is the beginning of you gaining clarity on what you want in your life.

2. Throw Out the Idealized Timeline

Many times, we as women are taught that we need to create a life list and connect it to our age. You know, by 23 finish college, by 25 get your MBA, by 26 get married, have your first baby by 27, retire at 55, etc. Do you see where I’m going with this? Who made up these rules and why did we ever listen to them?

The bottom line is you must throw out that timeline and instead focus on creating a plan that starts you on the path to your dream life. It’s the plan that does not dictate accomplishments based on your age, but based on your lifestyle and what time frame works best for you.

3. Take Massive Action

Nothing moves unless you do. Once you gain clarity on what you want and create a plan, the next step is to start taking action. Change your behavior to meet your new set of expectations. Whether that is writing every day to start your book, or registering your company so that you can start your business, or joining an online dating site and going on dates. Whatever the dream is, take action and start doing the real work to follow through.

Conclusion

Performing these 3 steps will be the beginning of you shifting your life in ways you could have never imagined. It takes guts, belief, and faith to go against what you may have believed was the right way of living. But, this is what the most successful, happiest people in the world do to live a lifestyle that they enjoy.
