“I need to lose weight”, “I need to get rid of these wrinkles”, “Who am I kidding, I’ll never get that promotion.” Do any of these statements sound familiar to you? If so, you aren’t alone.
Statements like this come from your inner critic, and you need to shut it up. That’s right- it’s time to say, “Bye-bye” to that little voice inside your head- your happiness depends on it.
If you want to live a more happy, fulfilled life, you must learn how to stop judging yourself so harshly. Luckily, some great strategies can help you do this.
Take account of your value, gifts, talents, and what you offer to the world.
Accept your essence- the person you are internally. This inner essence will include your personality, likes, and dislikes. As humans, we are always growing, learning, and evolving. However, it’s important to accept who you are at the core of your soul.
Forgive yourself for any past mistakes, bad decisions, or perceived negative behavior. You are a human being, doing the best you can. Give yourself compassion.
Stop criticizing other people so harshly. When you are constantly judging others, it is a reflection of how you judge yourself. If you find that you are gossiping, mentally judging, or comparing yourself to others, be willing to replace that behavior with compassion and deep love.
Be willing to face emotional or traumatic wounds. Consider seeking a professional therapist, psychologist, or counselor if you feel that you have experienced deep trauma in your past. All the negativity from traumatic experiences is still a part of you- unless you get professional help. Don’t allow the past to destroy the future you want to create.
There you have it. Those are 5 strategies to help you stop judging yourself so that you can welcome in the self-love, high self-esteem, confidence, and courage that is waiting for you.
