Have you ever had a thought, idea or feeling that you were meant to do more in your life? Something really amazing and important? If so, you were probably experiencing “the calling”. In this article, we’ll be going over how to use your intuition and recognize your calling.
The calling is an experience of being drawn towards a profession, a task, a place, a person or a situation. It can come in the form of signs, symbols, thoughts, visceral emotions or big dramatic events.
I believe that many of us are called to do great things in life. This thing is, few of us have the confidence to step into our power and make the shift!
The calling is a big part of the process of leading you toward your life’s purpose. The purpose will also be what brings your greatest happiness and joy.
I have met people that went to law school. Many became a lawyer, and after several successful years they realized that they wanted to be a doctor instead!
I myself have worked previously as a public health professional. I worked on some amazing projects for various international consulting firms, but eventually realized I was being called to do a different type of work. The work that I was being called to do was work that would impact women in a major way.
You may be be called to leave a long-term friendship or romantic relationship. It may be that a person was brought into your life to help you learn a meaningful lesson. However, eventually after you learned the lesson, the relationship fizzled.
I know of people that were called to move to a specific location, state or country. They literally had a strong sensation come over them. Then, they started to see and hear about that particular place on signs, billboards, television or radio.
Sometimes, a big dramatic event can occur in your life that inspires you to make significant changes. A person may lose their job which forces them to create their own business. Or, a mother may have a child with special needs. This might lead her to creating a program or charity for families that may be dealing with the same issues. Along with this, a person can get into a car accident and lose the use of their legs. The accident could lead them to lobby for rights of wheelchair bound persons.
Our experiences in life can lead to us moving closer to our calling and ultimately our life purpose.
Many times when you fulfill one calling you will continue to be called to other experiences. All of these experiences are designed to lead you on your life path. Your life path is the path that brings you closer to your purpose and overall joy.
Following your calling does not mean that life will not have challenges. However, by facing those challenges, you will build your resilience, strength and most importantly your confidence.
