Have you ever made plans to start a new regimen to reach your goals?  Maybe a new diet, a new exercise routine, a new cleaning schedule, or a new hobby? Then when you got started, you slowly began to lose momentum?

Well this is very common whenever someone starts on a new path to achieving their goals.  The key is to stay consistent with moving forward and keeping that momentum high!

Tips for Reaching Goals

Building consistency is all about practice; the more you do it, the better you become.  Here are 3 simple ways to stay consistent when reaching for your goals:

  1. Reaffirm what you want
  2. Take it slow
  3. Remove distractions

Let’s go over these tips in more detail.

1. Reaffirm What You Want

All too often, we start with the best intentions to work on achieving a goal, but somewhere along the lines those intentions change. It could be that you adjust your goal just a bit or you decide to start from scratch. Either way, if you are not happy and certain about the intention or goal you set, you will not stay consistent. So, ensure you revisit your original goal to make sure it’s what you want to achieve.

2. Take It Slow

Give yourself an easy win by taking things slow and doing only 1 task a day toward your goals. The idea of starting a new task can sometimes be overwhelming. Solving this issue is as simple as not trying to do everything all at once. Instead of trying to do everything all at once, cut your goal down into small tasks that you can do every day. This way, it does not feel like you have a long list of daunting tasks you must do.

3. Remove Distractions

Something that will help you build consistency is to trim off the time that is wasted on distractions. Specifically, television, social media, gossip, or toxic relationships. Getting focused means modifying behaviors that lead us away from our goal. Once you cut out time-wasting distractions, you will be able to become and stay more consistent.

Conclusion

Staying consistent will help you get into a flow when it comes to achieving your goals and going after what you really want in life. As the famous quote goes:

“6 months of hard work and focus can put you 5 years ahead in life. Never underestimate the power of consistency and desire.”
